Shortlist for next four books

After much debate and limited bloodshed the shortlist for the next four books has been decided. It is:

The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester
Old Man’s War by John Scalzi
Nor Crystal Tears by Alan Dean Foster
Life After Life by Kate Atkinson
Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert Heinlein
Solaris by Stanislaw Lem
Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett
Time Ships by Stephen Baxter
Perfume by Patrick Suskind
Banner of Souls by Liz Williams
Rim Runner by C. J. Cherryh

For the next meeting I’ll print a summary sheet for each book and we’ll fight over which four make the cut. It’s going to be a hard choice as all twelve nominations are excellent books.

Next meeting March 28th

The next meeting is Saturday 28th March. We’ll be discussing The Einstein Intersection by Samuel R. Delaney. Kyle tells me we are meeting downstairs again as the Handicrafts group have grabbed the meeting room.

We also need to start thinking about the choice of the next four books. It would be good to come up with a shortlist of around a dozen books, then we can make the final choice of four at the April meeting. The books that we didn’t choose are listed below – we could always renominate some of those, though it would be nice to add some fresh choices to the list.
